Pablo – A Unique New Voice in Children’s TV!

Paper Owl Films is delighted to launch PABLO, its ground-breaking new children’s TV series which features, for the first time, a child with autism in the starring role. PABLO, a 52-episode live action and 2D animation series, will be broadcast on CBeebies and RTĒjr from Monday 2nd of October. It tells the story of a five-year-old boy on the autism spectrum who uses his creativity – and magic crayons – to invent an imaginary Art World filled with animal characters which help him make sense of social situations and process confusing or anxious thoughts and feelings.
“Pablo is a significant show for CBeebies, reflecting our desire to be as inclusive as possible and cementing our ‘Everyone's Welcome’ campaign. Only CBeebies would commission this show in this way – empowering young people with autism to tell their own stories and perform them. I have such respect for the team at Paper Owl for creating this distinctive and authentic series which will resonate with so many families. When I visited the team, and met the young people and their families, and could see the positive impact on their lives, I commissioned a second series there and then before a single episode was even complete.” Kay Benbow, Controller of CBeebies
“RTÉjr has been pleased to support and champion Pablo from development stage. It has been a long journey and we're very excited to bring it to our viewers. Paper Owl's, and in particular, Grainne's commitment to enabling people with autism to tell their stories and to bring an understanding of their perspective to all has been as steely as it has been impressive. Pablo is funny, authentic and altogether charming and a welcome opportunity for RTÉjr to further exercise our mission to reflect the lives of all of our audiences.” Pauline MacNamara, Executive Producer RTÉJr,
